- Please tell us your name and what you do here at Equaleyes (and how long you have worked here)?
My name is Martin and I’ve been part of the Equaleyes team for more than two years. I am a web enthusiast and developer with a mission to release often, new and improved versions of me and our team.
- What’s your earliest childhood memory?
I remember that I had an explorer’s hat and every time I put it on I was immediately in Indiana Jones mode. I was like 5 years old when I decided to go exploring new places and “tribes”. Took my hat, backpack and went on one of my biggest “expeditions” by then. I walked for miles and while I was exploring the streets around my neighbourhood I met a random group of kids with whom I started playing. Of course, I hadn’t told the government (my parents) about my expedition and they started looking for me. When they found me, that was it, my explorations were put on-hold until further notice.
- What is the best piece of advice your mum or dad gave you?
They gave me so much advice but I appreciate the most that they have taught me always to think with my head, to be righteous towards others and myself and that investment in knowledge is always a good investment.
- Who do you admire right now and why?
I admire every hardworking and honest person that despite all of their struggles and problems can always find the energy to do more and to spread a little joy with the people around them.
- Best piece of advice you would give someone looking at getting into a technology job?
Like for any other profession, first, find yourself, then do it if you like it, love it or causes you least pain.
It’s not as hard as it looks and it’s not as easy as it looks.
- Funniest story about life at Equaleyes?
We have a good time at Equaleyes and a lot of funny stories, most of them should remain private 🙂 However, I remember one day when most of the devs agreed to bring their own favourite mechanical keyboards to work. It was really interesting for the first 5 minutes… We survived that day and luckily no one was hurt 🙂
- If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?
I would like it to be an animated reggae musical and my character to be portrayed by my childhood favourite, Yogi Bear.
- What things do you not like to do?
I always try to find the point and the benefit of the things I am doing so I can do them better. Sometimes, luckily rarely, some things, no matter how pointless they seem to me, have to be done.
- Everyone has a good app idea. What’s yours?
An app that’s going to organise and clean my pictures, music and all of the media files without any effort of mine.
- What do you think robots dream about?
I would like to give a witty answer to this question, but I am afraid of robots capable of dreaming.
- Imagine you were the CEO of a company… What would you make compulsory in the office and what would you definitely ban in the office?
I don’t like bans and rules, I like working with people that are conscientious enough and don’t need strict rules or bans. I think that every office needs a karaoke machine and a punching bag, I know I would use them.
- Tell us your darkest secret, we promise we won’t tell anyone. They’ll read it.
I’ve downloaded some pirated content by mistake years ago. I’ve never told anyone until now so please let’s keep it between us.
