Please tell us your name and what you do here at Equaleyes – and how long you have worked here.
I’m Rok and I’m an Android and Java developer at Equaleyes. I’ve been working for the company for five years, since October, 2012.
OK – where did you grow up? Tell us a bit about that place.
I grew up in a small village named Žikarce, which is located in the Slovene Hills (Slovenske gorice) in northeastern Slovenia, near to the second-biggest Slovenian city, Maribor. The main activities in the village are viticulture and agriculture as there are many fields and vineyards. You can also find many friendly, helpful and pleasant people.
What’s your earliest childhood memory?
My room with a carpet on which was a city plan with roads that I used to play with my cars toys on.
What is the best piece of advice your mum or dad gave you?
Don’t think about the opinions of others and always trust your feelings and decisions. The wrong decision does not exist, each mistake only extends the path to the goal.
Who do you admire right now and why?
I admire Slovenian basketball player Luka Dončič, who, at only 18 years old, took on a very responsible role in our national basketball team and went on to win EuroBasket 2017.
Best piece of advice you would give someone looking at getting into a technology job?
Explore the area where you want to work, improve your knowledge, and never stop improving. Even if you think you know it all, there is still something you can learn or improve.
Funniest story about life at Equaleyes?
Years ago, we had planted a tomato in the toilet bowl in the office!
If you could be a famous football player, who would you be?
I would be Ronaldinho because he was a very fair player and he really enjoyed every minute of the matches that he played. Also, he always knew how to impress his fans, both on the pitch and off.
What do you think robots dream about?
I believe robots dream about human life. They probably would like to taste food and drink, relax and sunbathe on the beach, feel the sand between their toes. Oh right, in that case they dream about toes, too…
